Stefano Nurra - Terra rossa

In Terra rossa the pictorial surface comes alive through a dense network of diagonals that cross the warm, earthy field, built with thick swathes of color. The white lines, dense and irregular, emerge as traced paths in the material, almost engravings that guide the gaze yet at the same time disorient it.

The two figures of tennis players, reduced to minimal signs, move on different planes, as if they inhabited parallel dimensions that touch without ever meeting. The athletic gesture, frozen in the act, becomes narrative pretext: no longer competition, but a search for direction within a fragmented space.

The strength of the work lies in the contrast between the free and almost brutal gesturality of the material and the symbolic precision of the lines, which evoke playing fields but transform into mental trajectories, inner maps.
