Japanese temple lantern / pagoda lantern, cast iron

Old and original Japanese lantern made of cast iron, mid-20th century (Showa period). Japanese cast iron lanterns are often found in Japanese gardens, standing or hanging. They give an immediate oriental atmosphere to the garden. Beautiful rust patina.

There are several types of these lanterns in Japan. This model is called Sankyaku Tsuridoro.

Equipped with a small door to place a candle / tea-light inside. Entirely made of cast iron, very nice for decoration for indoor or outdoor use.
