The scene depicts a evocative Venetian view, animated by the passage of gondolas and boats in the lagoon. The broad architectural vista of the city opens into a luminous and balanced composition, enhanced by a refined atmospheric rendering of the sky and the delicate reflections on the water, characteristic elements of Vittore Zanetti Zilla’s painting.
The work has recently undergone cleaning, an intervention that allowed the colors to be brought back to light, improving the legibility of the scene and the chromatic brilliance, in respect of the painting material.
On the back there is an original paper label from the Galleria S. Marco of Venice and a stamp on the canvas frame.
