Bronze perfume burner with champlevé enamel in a floral lotus design, Japan, dating to the late 19th to early 20th century, 16 cm high, 17 cm wide, 12 cm deep, lid with a foo dog and richly decorated tripod feet, artisanal work inspired by Zhou dynasty form and Qing dynasty decoration, sold without a stand.
Description from the seller
Superb bronze and champlevé enamel perfume burner with floral motifs (lotus flowers), provenance Japan – late 19th to early 20th century. It features a lid with a foo dog and tripodal feet richly decorated with mythical animals, artisanal production inspired by the Zhou Dynasty for the form and the Qing Dynasty for the decor. From an estate auction in Bordeaux, with the sale expert: Mrs. Anne Papillon d'Alton, member of the European Chamber of Art Experts (CEEA) for Asian art, and sworn expert at the Court of Appeal of Paris. Cabinet ANSAS, PAPILLON & de LERY. Happy bidding to all. As with all my items auctioned on this site, this wonder has undergone no cleaning (just dusting) or modification since purchase.
