Description from the seller

Beautiful snowy scene by Amedée Laroy

Amedée J. Laroy was born in Aalter on July 24, 1900, and worked there as a schoolteacher. He was also appointed director of a technical drawing school, 'Drawing as a Means for Master and Pupil' and 'Workbooks in Relation to the Study of the Environment'.

For several years he attended lessons in natural drawing at the Sint-Lukas Institute in Ghent. Only since 1957 could he devote himself fully to painting. Since then he has held a fairly large series of exhibitions, including: Capitole Hall in Aalter, Zwalmlandia Gallery in Sint-Martin-Latem, J. Van Eyck Gallery in Ghent, Altra Gallery in Aalter, Hoger Op in Lotenhulle, the Wielewaal in the castle at Poeke, in Eke, Hillemeersch in Dranouter, Gravensteen Gallery in Ghent and the Leiehoeve in Zulte. Most of these galleries exhibited the works of Amedée J. Laroy more than once.

Amedée J. Laroy especially loves the landscape, which he follows and depicts with meticulous attention to its many variations and facets. He usually works with oil paint, limiting himself to an impression or a quick sketch and then works out the impression gained at home in his studio.

The works may be refreshed.
