New Times. 2020
Mixed media on paper
59 × 45 cm
Shipping: Rolled in a tube
Description of the work:
"New Times" (2020) is an original work by Jesús Poveda centered on the relationship between contemporary painting, design and ecology. The composition is organized from a gestural splash of black ink that expands organically across the paper, evoking an unstable, ever-changing territory. On this basis, a linear geometric structure emerges, recalling the language of design and architecture, thus introducing a connotation toward the human and the non-human that seems to attempt to order, inhabit or reorder that landscape.
This duality between art and design directly connects with the artist's practice as a designer, where formal synthesis and visual clarity combine with painting procedures.
In this sense, the piece proposes a reflection on the fragility of the territory and the need to rethink how we intervene in it.
About the artist:
Jesús Poveda (Valencia, 1973) is a visual artist and graphic designer. He holds a degree in Fine Arts from the Universitat Politècnica de València and also a Master in Artistic Production. His work develops through series of contemporary painting and object-based works, where the painting is conceived as an object with symbolic charge and material presence.
With a solid professional track record in design and art direction, his work combines contemporary painting and visual thinking, exploring the relationship between image, matter, nature and visual culture. His practice incorporates ecological awareness that is manifested both in materials and discourses, guiding his production toward a contemporary collecting sensibility to these values.
Since 2015 he has participated in solo and group exhibitions in various cultural and artistic spaces, and his work has been presented in contexts linked to contemporary art, design and sustainability. In recent years, his career has undergone a process of professionalization and consolidation, with presence in specialized media.
