Description from the seller

Set of 2 oil paintings on wood from the same series.

Sold with a certificate of authenticity
Shipping France & Europe

Hélène Planquelle is a self-taught contemporary figurative painter whose works explore the delicate balance between pleasure and suffering in our relationship to others, from both an individual and collective perspective, through recurring themes such as emotional dependence, attachment, vulnerability, acceptance and rejection, violence, and power dynamics.
Although figurative, her work is conceptually a nature, drawing on a rich reservoir of philosophical, literary and scientific references, spanning fields from ethics to social sciences, including attachment theories and evolutionary psychology.
The title of each series, most often a quotation (literary, poetic or philosophical), creates an echoing link between each work, thus opening up the field of possible interpretations for the viewer.
