GonçaloMAR BIO
The appeal was constant; it was only a matter of time. The interpretation that MAR gives of the environment that surrounds him as an artist must be painted.
At the age of 12 he already drew figures of his imagination with a bit of chalk on the asphalt. Over the years his professional choice was natural. During his academy course—graduated in Fashion Design at F.A.L.—he applied to a position in a Portuguese animation studio—“Magic Toons”—as a drawer. It was around this time, in 98, that he had his first graffiti experience.
Since then, moved by his artistic convictions, Mar seeks constant evolution together with and for the global graffiti movement. He also works with different national fashion brands. Known for his paired characters, he stands out for the way he builds his characters and atmospheres, giving them lines and shapes that make them unique.

- Since 2002 Mar has participated in 42 exhibitions between art galleries and museums and produced 37 graffiti street art group exhibitions.

During his artistic path he became friends with and painted on walls alongside giants of graffiti and world street art such as Sainer, C215, Robert Proch, Os Gêmeos, Risk, Bellin, Magrela, Case and Tasso from the Maclaim Crew among many others famous in the international graffiti scene.
From the Portuguese scene Mar painted with Ram, Nomen, Utopia, Vhils, Odeith, Bray, Klit, Mais Menos and many more. Being part of the two most active and futuristic crews in Portugal: Tunders Crew and Arm Collective, the latter with Ram only.

Since 2015 until today, the artist has created installations, murals and canvases which are acquired by galleries and collectors around the world and has created countless graffiti commissions for all kinds of brands and companies.

Recently distinguished by the local authority that saw him grow as an artist, with the Medal of Cultural Merit.
Nowadays, his artistic goal is to explore new urban spaces that graffiti can still offer.
