Description from the seller
“Blue Whale” by Federico Alibrio presents itself as a work that transcends mere representation of the whale, encapsulating in it a deep symbolism. The whale, iconically majestic and fascinating, is often seen as a sacred entity, a symbol of ancient wisdom and infinite creativity.
The artist manages to evoke not only the aesthetics of this oceanic creature but also its spiritual essence. The choice of patinated terracotta gives the sculpture an organic texture, evoking the idea of a bond with the earth and, at the same time, with the oceanic depths that the whale represents.
This duality is crucial: the whale as a symbol of the principle of creation invites viewers to reflect on the interconnectedness of all forms of life and interspecies communication. The work becomes a vehicle of introspection, inviting us to explore our relationship with nature and the importance of listening to the often silent voices of the natural world.
The meaning of “Blue Whale” extends beyond the physical object, serving as a portal to a deeper understanding of ourselves and our place in the life cycle. Through this sculpture, Alibrio invites us to explore the beauty and complexity of existence, stimulating an emotional and spiritual connection with art and the world around us.
The whale has been depicted swimming and designed to be hung on a wall, though it can also rest on a surface. On the back there is a hole that allows it to be hung on a wall.
The work was made in clay and fired, subsequently patinated at cold temperature, with a deliberately light patina to let the terracotta show through.
The work will be shipped with careful packaging and a certificate of authenticity.
The Italian artist Federico Alibrio, born in 1995, is always seeking inspiration to grow with new experiences.
Having graduated in sculpture in 2021 from the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania, he works in sculpture and painting. He has participated and continues to participate in exhibitions and symposia of high cultural profile, demonstrating commitment and seriousness in addressing sculptural practice.
Reality itself is the greatest source of inspiration. His passions are: wildlife (sensitive to endangered species) and trees. His goal is to showcase the beauty of nature.
