Louis Dourand's Topoleone is a limited edition giclée print (100 copies) in 60 by 42 cm, hand-signed with a certificate of authenticity, depicting a pop culture scene in a conceptual art style.
Description from the seller
An ironic and contemporary reinterpretation of an iconic historical scene: Mickey Mouse as Napoleon Bonaparte, depicted in the solemn style of period paintings. The work plays with the contrast between classical painterly language and the intrusion of a pop icon, creating a visual short circuit that unites history, pop culture, and parody. Created in 2025, it is part of a sold-out series devoted to irreverent rereadings of collective symbols.
This new work stems from the creativity of French artist Louis Dourand, known for having previously collaborated with Santicri, in an artistic dialogue that managed to fuse different visual languages into a shared expressive vision. Santicri – with whom Louis Dourand has collaborated on several occasions – is one of the most established contemporary artists on the international scene.
He has exhibited his works in prestigious contexts such as Palazzo Grillo in Genoa in 2022 and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York in 2023.
In 2024 he was recognized among Best-Selling Artists by Artmayeur and he entered the top 3 of the most sought-after artists on Catawiki, alongside names such as Kaws and Banksy.
