Henrique MAPS, The Gathering - Diptych, a two-piece mixed media diptych with acrylic on natural-toned 160 g/m² paper, each piece 21 × 29.7 cm (A4), sold as a pair, hand signed, original 2026 work from Portugal, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
The Gathering — Diptych
Two-piece mixed media diptych on Canson XL Sand Grain paper — acrylic paint on natural-toned 160g/m² paper, each piece A4 (21 × 29.7 cm / 8.3 × 11.7 in). Sold as a pair.
Dense black forms rise from a bare, warm-toned surface — figures, or something close to figures, clustered in a way that feels ancient and ceremonial.
Around them, small bursts of cobalt blue, rust red, olive green and teal orbit like energy made visible.
The two pieces mirror and answer each other — the first upright and grouped, the second lower and more spread, the coloured marks around them more scattered, as if the gathering is either loosening or deepening.
Together they suggest a ritual, a conversation, a before and after.
No background noise, no busy landscape — just form, mark, and silence. Raw, elemental, and quietly commanding.
Painting sold by artist directly
Henrique MAPS (1994) is a contemporary visual artist working in painting and mixed media. His work combines figurative and abstract elements to explore identity, social structures, and cultural observation through bold compositions featuring humans, animals, and symbolic imagery.
Working primarily with acrylics, chinese ink, drawing, and collage on canvas, MAPS creates psychologically charged paintings characterized by layered textures, graphic elements, and recurring motifs of eyes, hands, and silhouettes.
His culturally conscious practice examines contemporary social dynamics while drawing inspiration from diverse artistic traditions including urban art, modernism, and expressionism.
