Le Yack (Alexandre Pelletier) presents Fast Food Aristocracy, a hand-signed giclée on canvas mounted on a wooden frame, 40 x 60 cm, limited edition of 20, produced in France in 2020 or later, with a certificate of authenticity.
Description from the seller
In a magistral chiaroscuro worthy of the Dutch Golden Age of painting, a noble XVIIth-century lady, dressed in a rich black velvet gown and adorned with an imposing lace ruff, poses with imperturbable solemnity. Yet the absolute seriousness of her aristocratic expression violently contrasts with the action taking place: she delicately savors fries from a famous red fast-food cone of our contemporary world. This unexpected intrusion of mass consumer culture into the heart of a classical portrait creates a striking and deeply ironic anachronism. The work mesmerizes with technically flawless execution, where light caresses with equal nobility the delicacy of the lace and the crispy golden fries. Le Yack signs here a brilliant piece, posing a subversive humor about our relationship to the icons of art history and to globalization.
