Description from the seller

Christiane GUERRY
Painter, Sculptor

Born July 24, 1948 in Grenoble, France. Artist Painter and Sculptress. After living in Grenoble, Dijon and Paris, she currently resides in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes) and Fréjus (Var). Her career spans several decades! She has sold to collectors around the world! Numerous awards and distinctions punctuate her career! Curious, she explores all supports and has found her “craft” and her pictorial themes! Forms, lines, vibrant colors evoking her emotions…
She admires Frida KAHLO, Alice NEEL, Camille CLAUDEL among women artists with unique artistic and emotional journeys! She loves TURNER, Van GOGH, CEZANNE, RENOIR, MATISSE, KADINSKI, Marc CHAGAL among men for the work and exploration in their creations! With Mercedes Henry (contemporary artist from Grenoble) she works with material and learns knife technique. Mercedes nicknames her "The Painter of Colors"! Material, Colors and Light are her quests in all her creations! She began exhibiting in 1968!
BIOGRAPHY AND CHILDHOOD
Raised in an artistic milieu with her father, a tenor, who encouraged her path as an artist… She has constantly exhibited in various cultural venues in Grenoble and has an article in Le Dauphiné Libéré in 1980 to celebrate International Women’s Day!
In 1987 she moved to DIJON, then to PARIS where she met Dominique from ART ET MISS, with whom she still exhibits! She came to Nice in 1989 and has not left since! She has exhibited both in France and abroad, including the Sharjah Museum in 2005! She opened a studio in Saint Paul de Vence (1996/1998) then a studio on Rue Défly in Nice (1999/2002), then in Vence (2003/2006) and in Old Town Nice (2010/2015).
She describes her creations as Informal, Timeless and Obsessional! Time that passes, quickly, too quickly, scares her! An artist lives and thinks differently from others! A life often in parallel with others… A gaze lost in strange worlds, looking beyond the horizon… Her early works were linked to Symbolist Movement, then they evolved toward reinvented figurativism, then toward semi-abstract and abstract… When the Real becomes Unreal!!!
Owning one of her works adds diversity and depth to a collection! She exhibits continuously:
at La Galerie Joséphine “La Petite Provence” in Denmark in Kolding
at Galerie Arnaud Caron in Bielefeld, Germany
at Galerie Artsper
at Galerie Art et Miss in Paris 75003
