Description from the seller
Antique set of hand drills (gimlets) and woodworking tools – possibly shipbuilding / maritime workshop – ca. 1880–1920
Description:
A characterful and authentic set of antique hand drills, consisting of an ascending sequence of gimlets (hand drill bits), complemented with various other woodworking tools such as spoon drills and awls.
The central group forms a clearly cohesive and ascending set, indicating an originally functional whole from a craft workshop.
The remaining pieces were added later as an extension, probably from the same working environment.
The set was found together with other older tools from a maritime / shipbuilding context, which makes it plausible that these were used in shipbuilding or related woodworking.
The tools feature turned wooden handles (likely beech), partly with original brass rings. The metal parts show wear and oxidation appropriate to age and heavy use.
Period: circa 1880–1920
Materials: wood (likely beech), steel/iron, brass
Quantity: 15 pieces

A particularly atmospheric whole that combines functional history with decorative value — ideal for collectors of antique tools, industrial objects, and maritime heritage.
