Les Amours is a numbered illustrated edition (1937) of Pierre de Ronsard’s poetry, with five original colour illustrations by Antoine Calbet, bound in burgundy demi‑cuir, 253 pages, 20.5 × 16 cm, in French and issued by Rombaldi.
Description from the seller
A numbered edition on laid paper from Voiron of The Loves, by Pierre de Ronsard (1524‑1585), published by the Rombaldi editions. The text established in the 1560 edition is published with the author’s additions by Ad. Van Bever (1869‑1929). The collection gathers the poems dedicated to Cassandre, Marie and Hélène, where Ronsard develops Petrarchan love lyricism nourished by mythology and the celebration of nature.
The edition is illustrated by Antoine Calbet (1860‑1944), who produced five original color illustrations hors-texte, with a tone that is at once gallant and classicizing.
Half‑morocco binding in Bordeaux, spine ornamented, covers preserved, gilt top and marbled endpapers.
The leather is a little worn, the other defects are minor.
