Description from the seller
A games compendium, perfect for a traditional library or games room. This set centres around a beautiful green baize Edwardian folding mahogany board (c. 1900), which features a rich patina and vibrant playing surface. Included in this curated lot is a rare, mid-Victorian set of 27 hand-carved bone draughts tiles (c. 1860), in a wooden box. These tiles possess a wonderful tactile quality and historical weight that modern plastic simply cannot replicate. To complete the set, we have included a box of 1940s De La Rue 'British Holiday' playing cards in their original box, offering a charming glimpse into mid-century leisure, along with an additional set of vintage plastic draughts pieces, 12 each black and white, together included in a further wood lined metal storage box. This is a "time capsule" of British gaming history, bridging three different eras of craftsmanship.
Measurements:
The Board: 53.4 x 45.8cm folding down to 26.7 x 45.8cm.
Domino tiles, each 2.3 x 1cm.
