Description from the seller
Laphroaig Càirdeas Feis Ile 2012 Limited Edition
A rare Laphroaig Cairdeas Islay single malt scotch whisky at cask strength 51.2% abv exclusively for the Festival Fèis Ìle 2012. This Laphroaig Cairdeas single malt celebrates 18 years of the Friends of Laphroaig programme and was specially bottled for the Islay Festival of Music and Malt in 2012. This limited edition Origin bottling combines some of the original liquid used in the first ever Cairdeas (which translates to friendship in Gaelic) release and is complemented with newer Quarter Cask matured Laphroaig spirit - the maturation took place half in selected quarter and half in refill bourbon casks.
With one of the outstanding Feis Ile bottlings from Laphroaig as well as a terrific Islay single malt and a rarity for connoisseurs and collectors of exclusive scotch whiskies!
Nose: Buttery and soft, with just a wisp of smoked kippers. There's only the slightest hint of the carbolic notes you find in the ten year old expression. It's a heavy butterscotch sweetness that runs the show, with a hefty portion of salted caramel.
Palate: Rounded and smooth, the butter spreads itself, melts and reveals Laproaig's signature smoky heart. It's pungent but not overpowering, a cushion of smoke rather than an enveloping cloud. But this is a big mouth-filling whisky; it just does it with finesse. That sweetness from the nose is heavily pronounced, and tastes remarkably like the crumbly fudge you find all over Islay.
Finish: Sweet, long and comforting.
