Description from the seller
A very special and highly detailed wall plaque by Jan Kellner with a decoration of fruit, leaves and the inscription 'LEVEN IS WEVEN EN STERVEN IS BIJ GOD ZIJN STUK INGEVEN'
This decoration is very distinctive, but the geometrically shaped center, as well as the geometry in the edge of the plaque, remains very characteristic of Kellner.
Signed on the back with the typical monogram JK for Jan Kellner
Jan Kellner (1924-2005) was born in Bruges and belongs to the Flemish group of ceramists from the 1950s-1960s.
From 1951 to 1954 he worked as a decorator for Perignem, after which he worked independently and successfully creating art ceramics and etchings in the style of Amphora, Perignem.
The ceramics are usually uniquely decorated, which is also the case here.
The wall plaque is in fairly good condition. Fine, stable hairline at the edge, only visible at the back (see last photo)
Diameter 29 cm, height 6 cm
The plaque will be very well packed and shipped safely.
