Medsan presents Neo Edo Matrix (ネオ江戸マトリックス) – Hand Signed, a 40 × 40 cm giclée on canvas, edition limitée (1/1) from 2026, in excellent condition, depicting Culture Pop and signed in the cartouche, sold directly from the artist.
Description from the seller
With this square-format artwork, Medsan delivers a masterful reimagining of one of cinema's most influential science-fiction works, transposed into the aesthetics of Edo-period Japan. This giclée depicts a classic samurai whose appearance and environment are pilfered by the visual codes emblematic of the Matrix franchise.
The anachronism is meticulously constructed: the character, dressed in a traditional blue kimono adorned with kamon (crests), wears the iconic round sunglasses with dark lenses. In his right hand, he consults a book or register whose dark pages seem threaded with lines of code. His left hand draws a katana whose blade has metamorphosed into a glowing green beam, disintegrating into points of light. The Matrix illusion is completed by the burgundy background on which the famous "digital rain" runs down, here faithfully recreated with series of green katakana suspended in space.
The impact of the work rests on this accomplished fusion between ukiyo-e art and cyberpunk aesthetics. The color treatment, pairing the neon green of computer code with the muted tones of the traditional garment, creates a striking visual depth. The classic cartouche in the upper right corner, containing the signature "Medsan" (メドサン), anchors this temporal anomaly in the tradition of Japanese prints.
An essential and bold piece, offering a reflection on reality and illusion, ideal for adding a cinematic, geeky, and decidedly contemporary dimension to interior decoration.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a living and plural contemporary creation. Installed as a true creative production space, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive inquiry, blending abstract art, raw art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, produced, and followed within the studio, with shared artistic standards and an identity unique to each artist.
