This Adelphi Limited bottling comes from the legendary Caroni Distillery in Trinidad — celebrated for its bold, industrial house style. Caroni is loved for rums that combine dark molasses notes, an oily mouthfeel, and a distinctive smoky/tarry character.
This release is a single cask Trinidad rum, distilled in 1997 and bottled in 2023 at 56.8%. Ageing in a refill hogshead gives the distillate room to shine: less “sweet wood make-up,” more pure Caroni signature. The result is intense and layered, with notes of liquorice, cocoa, coffee, leather and warming spices, plus that unmistakable diesel/tar edge that Caroni fans chase. With only 204 bottles, this is a serious enthusiast and collector release.
