Perry Ogden - Pony kids - 1999

Over the last ten years, an extraordinary equestrian culture has developed in the residential neighborhoods surrounding Dublin. Teenagers from poor and often unemployed families keep their ponies in small patches of green land in the city’s fallow areas. Once a month there is an equestrian fair in the city centre. Perry Ogden has created formal portraits of these boys and their ponies in an open studio. The result documents a tribe on the brink of extinction.
