Description from the seller

The last living big Artist

Peter Robert Keil is one of the most well-known and accomplished contemporary painters and sculptors in Germany. Keil is famous for his bold and beautiful paintings that capture the essence of life. His works can be found all over the world in museums, galleries, and private collections of the rich and famous. Peter Robert Keil painted alongside giants such as Joan Miró, Picasso, Andy Warhol, Basquiat, and other artists, and is therefore often dubbed as The Last Living Big Artist.

Original and early works by the artist are hardly affordable on the global market anymore.

Very beautiful, exceptional, and powerful abstract work by Peter Robert Keil. A fascinating piece, with strong colors, modern and timeless! The painting comes from the early period of P.R. Keil, dating to 1959.

Dimensions with frame H: 74 cm x W: 54 cm, the painting itself is 70 cm x 50 cm. It is housed in a simple wooden frame. The painting or the panel is slightly curved and may, if desired, be better showcased with a new frame.

Original artwork on panel, by the artist Peter Robert Keil.

The colors in the images may vary slightly (e.g., due to light reflections).

Oil/acrylic mixed technique on plywood panel.

Shipping is insured.

His artistically gifted mother carried herself and her son to West Berlin during the final phase of the war, where they settled after the war. There Keil grew up in the working-class neighborhood of Berlin-Wedding and soon discovered his interest in painting — particularly in expressionist artists and in the works of Pablo Picasso. The painter Otto Nagel, who came from East Berlin, became his mentor from around 1954 and taught him his first practical skills and painting techniques.
