Medsan, Edo Remote Work (江戸のリモートワーク) – Hand Signed, a 40 × 40 cm Giclée on stretched canvas, edition limited, number 1, 2026, in excellent condition, from France.
Description from the seller
With this square-format work, Medsan humorously and unexpectedly draws a parallel between the martial discipline of feudal Japan and the codes of the contemporary business world. This giclée features a samurai in full armor (yoroi), seated cross-legged in front of a traditional wooden coffee table, absorbed in a decidedly modern task.
The anachronistic contrast is driven to its peak: the warrior, his stern face lit by the blue glow of a screen, participates in a video conference. He wears a gamer headset with an integrated microphone, overlaid on his heavy horned helmet (kabuto). On the screen of his laptop, decorated with an “Edo Biz” logo, the faces of his interlocutors, other traditional Japanese figures, appear, recreating the familiar interface of remote meetings. The samurai’s right hand, protected by his forearm guards (kote), manipulates a computer mouse, while his sword rests peacefully at his side.
The visual impact of the composition relies on a palette of rich, earthy colors for the armor, contrasted with the bright, technological halo emitted by the computer. The plain beige background recalls the texture of ancient washi paper, reinforcing the illusion of an authentic ukiyo-e print. The traditional red cartouche in the upper right corner certifies the piece with the signature “Medsan” in katakana (メドサン).
A piece of great irony, offering a humorous look at telework and hyper-connectivity, ideal for decorating a workspace, an open-plan office, or a contemporary interior.

About the Atelier:
Atelier Joconde is a workshop of artists united around a living and plural contemporary creation. Established as a true space of artistic production, the studio operates both as collective creation and through individual approaches, depending on the projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Alongside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive pursuit, blending abstract art, brut art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, realized, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and a unique identity for each artist.
