Medsan presents Climbing the Geta (下駄登り) - Hand Signed, a 40 × 40 cm giclée on wood panel from an edition of 1, created in 2026, in excellent condition and signed in the wood, produced in France with a Culture Pop theme.
Description from the seller
With this square-format work, the artist continues their deft exploration of scale and miniature choral scenes. This giclee features a towering traditional wooden Japanese sandal (geta), raised like a monumental monument at the heart of a picturesque Edo-period village, stirring the commotion of its tiny inhabitants.
The ingenuity of the composition lies in the interaction between the Lilliputians and the giant object. Villagers, artisans, and women dressed in colorful kimonos (geishas or oirans) climb the thick red thong (hanao) of the shoe, using ropes and bamboo ladders. At the foot of this colossal structure, village life goes on, creating a striking contrast between the familiar everyday and the surreal nature of the situation. The artist cleverly integrates their signature in katakana (メドサン), directly engraved in the finely reproduced texture of the sandal wood, replacing the traditional cartouche.
The visual impact is strengthened by a sharp color palette. A deep, uniform violet background separates the warm tones of the striped wood from the vivid red of the strap, while the rooftops of houses and the characters' outfits add touches of varied colors. The drawing, with clean lines and flat, distinct areas, sits within the technical continuity of ukiyo-e while infusing it with a pop and playful dynamic.
A rich, detail-filled narrative piece, offering a surreal and witty perspective, ideal for adding an intellectual, aesthetic, and offbeat dimension to a designer interior.

About the Atelier:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a living, plural contemporary creation. Installed as a true center of artistic production, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on the projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and the visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, mixing abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
