In this work I address the human figure from a formal synthesis that reduces the face to its most significant essence: the profile. Far from a descriptive representation, the image is built from geometric planes that reorganize the anatomy into a purified, contemporary visual language.
The composition is articulated through an overlap of forms that integrate the face and the space into a single structure. There is no clear separation between figure and background; both merge into a continuous system where each plane contributes rhythm, direction, and balance. The profile thus becomes a reading axis, a line that orders the gaze and sustains the entire composition.
The work is situated within a contemporary reinterpretation of cubist language. The fragmentation of form, the simplification of volumes, and the coexistence of different planes refer to the principles of Cubism, though from a more current sensibility where compositional clarity and chromatic intensity take on a central role.
Color acts as a constructive element. The vibrant palettes, balanced between warm and cool tones, do not seek to reproduce reality, but to generate a visual architecture that defines the image. Light does not come from an external source; it emerges from the relationship between the colors themselves.
“The Profile” invites silent contemplation. It is not a portrait of a specific person, but a representation of presence, of identity reduced to its purest form. In that synthesis, the work finds its strength: to say much with little.
