Description from the seller
"Facing The Icon" – Limited Edition (100 copies) - New collection 2026
Edition number: 10/100
Artist: SKE
Publisher: Atelier Montmartre Paris
300 g art paper – ISO A3 format – Signed, numbered – Certificate included
Here, SKE reinterprets the famous red gorilla by Richard Orlinski. An icon of power, massive, impressive. Facing him? Gaston. No muscles, no anger. Just a banana.
The face-off is absurd, almost funny. The gorilla clenches his fists, Gaston extends a hand. Raw strength meets quiet innocence. And suddenly, the tension turns into a smile.
With this subversion, SKE plays with the symbols of power and the art market. The contemporary totem is defused by a simple, childish, deliberately offbeat gesture. No battle, no hero. Just a situation that makes you think while you smile.
Urban stroke, splashes, projections and pop references anchor the work in SKE’s universe: accessible, legible, but never trivial.
A piece that diverts an icon… without ever taking itself too seriously.

A rare edition that will undoubtedly become a centerpiece of your collection.
- ARTIST BIO:
SKE is a self-taught French artist and versatile creator who grew up in the 80s/90s culture, inspiring a large portion of his artwork.
He constantly explores new techniques: acrylic painting, collage, stenciling, graffiti, urban installations and digital art. His dynamic and expressive compositions, often with double meanings, blend the raw energy of street art with the visual impact of pop art.
After an exceptional 2025, SKE’s market value has risen noticeably. Laureate of the first prize at Urban Master (2023), then elected Revelation of the Year at the Color Jam Challenge (2025).
SKE was selected as "Artist of the Month" in October, and his work was also featured in an American art magazine confirming his international recognition.
His works have already been shown in major venues in Europe, the United States and Asia, consolidating his place on the contemporary art scene. At the same time, SKE is also making a mark in the digital art market, a major trend of the past two years, strengthening the appeal of his creations to collectors.
Icons of popular culture, bold graphics and texture plays characterize a style now indispensable.
SKE is undoubtedly an artist to follow, to initiate or enrich a collection with rising value.
Artist Rated & Awarded – Pop Art & Contemporary Street Art
AN ENVIRONMENT BETWEEN HERITAGE AND MODERNITY
SKE’s work sits in a prestigious lineage. His line carries the visual efficiency of Keith Haring and Andy Warhol, while incorporating the subversion of Banksy or the pioneer Blek le Rat. His works create a bridge between eras: they revisit the classics, not hesitating to divert Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring, Hokusai’s The Great Wave, or Picasso’s deconstructed forms to confront them with a modern urban aesthetic akin to Mr. Brainwash or Kaws.
POP CULTURE & NOSTALGIA
Drawing from the collective imagination, SKE manipulates icons from our childhood. He stages the Disney universe with figures like Mickey Mouse or Pinocchio, and the symbolic greed of Scrooge McDuck. The influence of gaming, comics and graphic novels is omnipresent: from the Nintendo universe and the legendary Game Boy, to Pokémon creatures (Pikachu, Charizard, Ash), and the Marvel Super Heroes. SKE crystallizes these memories in the manner of Daniel Arsham or Takashi Murakami.
LUXURY, HYPE & CONSUMER SOCIETY
In a style sometimes recalling Alec Monopoly, the artist plays with codes of success and materialism. The Dollar symbol sits beside logos of luxury and fashion giants. His canvases capture the aesthetics of “Hype”: you meet the sneaker world (Nike Air Jordan, Adidas, Off-White) and haute couture (Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Louboutin). He also incorporates automotive adrenaline (Ferrari, Porsche, Bugatti, AMG) and precision watchmaking (Rolex, Tag Heuer), not to forget mass consumer icons like Coca-Cola. It’s vibrant art, with textured finishes that sometimes evoke the glossy finish of Jeff Koons or the facets of Richard Orlinski.
This work is ideal for enriching a collection or bringing a dynamic touch to your interior.
