Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images

Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence, and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to shop-window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light, and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.

ECHO WAVES / ECHO VISIONS

A new reading of cultural icons
In this series, each work offers a powerful visual immersion, where the energy of the scene, light, and movement recombine in a contemporary pop art aesthetic, vibrant and deeply immersive. But beyond the immediate visual impact, these creations rest on a particularly demanding and singular artistic process.

A mosaic creation process
Each main image is actually made up of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. These visual fragments, each designed individually, form a complex, meticulously orchestrated mosaic. From afar, the work reveals an iconic figure, instantly recognizable. Up close, it becomes a multitude of details, textures, colors, and visual rhythms, evoking the subject’s artistic and emotional universe.
Each fragment acts as a visual wave, a resonance — hence the name:

An exacting graphic construction
The creation rests on an in-depth compositional work using professional graphic tools such as Photoshop. The process involves:
• Creating and assembling thousands of unique visual elements
• Precise work on color, light, and contrasts
• Global harmonization to ensure the final image’s legibility
• A constant balance between abstraction and recognition
Each work requires a long, meticulous production time to achieve perfect visual coherence between micro-details and overall composition.

A respectful and original approach
This artistic approach has a key hallmark:
• No use of third-party photographs
• No direct reproduction of existing images
• No explicit mention of the names of the personalities depicted
Figures emerge solely through the strength of visual language, allowing immediate recognition while preserving artistic distance. This choice guarantees:

Career

Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual work, he develops an authorial and musician career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
