Marcel Houf (1951), "Gothic" Chaos, 1980.

Photograph printed on canvas, sheet size 60.6 x 45.3 cm, image size 40 x 40 cm. Signed, dated, titled with pink felt-tip pen.

Houf worked as a photojournalist and journalist for the international agency KIPPA and for the magazine Pop Musik Express. In the course of this work he met and photographed personalities from world culture such as Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, Liz Taylor and Falco. Parallel to this, he devoted himself to art photography, film footage, and rock music. He became a cofounder of alternative musical groups such as Hever & Vaselina Band, General Guglhupf, Captain Chaos, Brontosaurus and Drahdiwaberl. He also engaged with multimedia projects and performance and took part in international exhibitions of the alternative culture, among others at the Summer of Love in Vienna (Kunsthalle) and at the Tate Gallery in Liverpool.
