In this work I explore the gaze as structure and as the center of image organization. The face is not presented as a closed form, but as an open system of planes that articulate around a central axis, from which the entire composition is constructed.
The fragmentation of the figure responds to a logic of reorganization rather than rupture. Each element, each plane, occupies a precise place within an internal balance where the geometric and the organic coexist. The axis not only divides, but orders, connecting the different parts into a dynamic unity.
The work is situated within a contemporary reinterpretation of Cubist language. The decomposition of the face, the superposition of perspectives, and the construction of space through planes of color recall the principles of cubism, though from a current, more refined sensitivity focused on formal clarity.
The eye, positioned as the visual nucleus, acts as a convergence point. It is not only a figurative element, but a center of energy that organizes the reading of the work. From it, lines, shapes and colors expand, generating a controlled tension that sustains the entire composition.
Color fulfills a structural function. The contrasted palettes, especially between cool and warm tones, do not describe reality but construct form and define space. Light emerges from the relationship between the planes themselves, reinforcing a sense of depth without recourse to traditional perspective.
“The Visual Axis” offers a reflection on perception. It is not only about what is seen, but how the gaze is organized. In that structure, in that balance between fragment and unity, the work finds its meaning.
