Jos Albert, born in Brussels on May 22, 1886 and died in Uccle on October 8, 1981, was a Belgian painter and draftsman, etcher and academician.

It was in the evening classes, at the Saint-Josse-ten-Noode Academy, from 1903 to 1912 that Jos Albert learned his craft as a painter. There he received a Gold Medal for the life drawing course. He then studied at the Académie libre L’Effort and at Albert Crommelynck’s, the brother of playwright Fernand Crommelynck, where he met the painters Auguste Oleffe and Ferdinand Schirren.

From 1912 onward, Albert also participated in the Doe Stil Voort circle in Brussels.

His beginnings were marked by Impressionism and Fauvism.
