Description from the seller
Helmut Kriechbaum is a contemporary artist who, in his practice, engages intensively with questions of perception, materiality, and space. The starting point of his work is often the observation of subtle changes in surfaces, structures, and lighting conditions, which he translates into an autonomous artistic form.
His work moves between abstraction and the suggestion of concreteness. Through a deliberate use of reduction, works arise that resist a single reading and instead create open spaces for associations. Characteristic is the experimental handling of materials and techniques, which makes the process of creation visible and regards it as an integral part of the work.
In his works, Kriechbaum themes the fragility of perception as well as the relationship between order and chance. Layers, overlays, and subtle ruptures generate a visual tension that only reveals itself upon longer viewing.
