Democratic Republic of the Congo
Total length: 45 cm
Period: early 20th century
Materials: wrought iron, wood, fibers
Provenance: French auction house

This ceremonial short sword known as "phoogo ya Kusa" was mainly the product of the western Pende, but it has also been found among the Wongo and Lele of the DRC. (Elsen, De Fer et De fierté, 2003; Zirngibl & Kubetz, Panga Na Visu, 2009).
