About
Claudia Terstappen is an internationally established photographer and sculptor whose work for over 30 years has explored captivating connections between landscape, nature and spirituality with a thoughtful philosophical perspective.
She initially studied German literature and philosophy at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf before laying her artistic foundation at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in photography and sculpture.
Since 2004 she has lived and worked between Barcelona, Melbourne, and previously in the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and the United States.
Her photo cycle “In the Shadow of Change” has been shown, among others, at the Monash Gallery of Art in Melbourne – internationally acclaimed for its aesthetic refinement and spiritual depth.
Works such as “Cabbage Trees (Queensland, Australia, 2002)” and “Zion Park (USA, 1996)” combine nature observation with existential presence.
Apart from landscape photography, she engages with the interplay of nature and culture through sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, video installations and book projects.
Her works are held in renowned collections such as the Houston Museum, Fundación Rafael Tous (Barcelona), the Osaka Prefectural Government, the Warrnambool Art Gallery (Australia) and the DKM Museum in Duisburg.
