Valentin Prévot's work is realistic and figurative. Through his drawings and paintings, he pursues a political and identity-focused inquiry into his history and that of his family. His current artistic work aims to pay homage to him but also to sustain his ideas and his journey, anchoring them in time.
With the help of portraits, paintings/drawings, and the will to understand and appropriate this history, Valentin has been working for several months on a series of “graphic objects” and installations intended to complete this archival background, adding his perspective, sensitivity, and voice as an artist.
Some of his works are inspired by Schiele, Kokoschka, but also by German expressionists such as Dix and Grosz. The questions of transmission and intergenerational trauma constitute the central theme of his work. Valentin has understood that through this history he could address all subjects that personally matter to him, such as questions of identity, the work of research and transmission, and ideological, philosophical, and political excesses...
