J&B Legend 21 Years
70cl /40%
A master distiller from Italy, Giacamo Justerini (the ‘J’ in J&B), fell madly in love with an opera singer, Margherita Bellini, and followed her to England. His love was unrequited, but Margherita introduced him to Samuel Johnson, who in turn introduced him to his future business partner, his nephew, George Johnson. Two generations of Johnsons later, the other ‘J’ in J&B was found – Alfred Brooks. Brooks bought the company from Johnson and renamed it Justerini & Brooks. Brooks had heard of Andrew Usher, a spirits merchant from Edinburgh who enjoyed experimenting and was the first person to blend whiskies with the aim of selling them. Justerini & Brooks commissioned Usher to create a smoother blend for a new audience, so he called on his business partner to help – James Anderson. Together they created the J&B Club blend, one of the first companies to produce Scotch blends, and developed the business together.
