This extraordinary still life stands out for a highly significant exhibition path. The work was presented at the exhibition “Carlo Socrate - Works from 1910 to 1946,” held at Palazzo Venezia, Rome, in 1988, and is published on a full-color page in the official catalog of the exhibition as no. 77; the original catalog will also be provided as a gift to the purchaser.
In addition to this reference, there was a previous exhibition presence in the show “Capogrossi, Mafai, Melli, Omiccioli, Socrate. Carlo Socrate (Rome, 1889 – 1967) is a central figure of Roman painting of the twentieth century, linked to the atmosphere of the Roman School, where reality takes shape through matter, light and painterly construction.
In this context, “Rapanelli,” produced in 1942, is a work of the highest quality: the color is full, the matter well worked, the volumes are built with confidence and the light defines the objects with precision, making them solid and present.
The result is a strong and immediate painting, extremely convincing, that combines painting quality, balance and great visual effectiveness, with a direct and highly appreciated impact by collectors.
Carlo Socrate (Rome, 1889 – 1967) operated permanently in Rome, participating in the main national exhibitions of the century, including the Rome Quadriennials. He developed an autonomous and recognizable research, attentive to the construction of form and the concrete rendering of objects.
His still lifes, like this one, represent one of the most solid and appreciated nuclei of his production.
The buyer will receive the work in careful and sturdy packaging. Very fast shipping. Free pickup possible in Monza/Milan.
