Pancho Porto (Santiago de Compostela, 1988), began his training in the specialty of artistic carpentry at the Antonio Failde center in Ourense. In this school he had his first contact with disciplines such as carving, drawing, or modeling, and, most importantly, with workshop work.
Later he enrolled at the Mestre Mateo School of Arts and Trades in Santiago de Compostela, where he studied what would become his main discipline: sculpture. It is at this school that he already works with materials that would be fundamental in his work, such as steel or clay. Parallelly, Porto continues his training personally and investigates other materials such as bronze or resins and their multiple uses and finishes, leaning towards the use of bronze and steel as the definitive materials for his works.
After this initial training, he decides to set up his workshop on the banks of the Sarela River, very close to where he was born. It is here that he begins his particular theoretical and practical research into the relationship between the materials used in each work and the message they convey. This leads him to seek new proposals when communicating and narrating his story. Since then, this has been the habitual tone of his works, thus adding complexity and depth to the whole of his work, with themes that touch both on social matters and his personal experiences.
