Description from the seller

Pair of vintage photographs on albumen paper, Italy, late 19th – early 20th century. The first depicts the famous sculptural group “Love and Psyche” by Antonio Canova, housed at Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo on Lake Como. At the bottom there is the editorial caption “Ed. Fratelli Brogi, Florence,” with subject indication. The print shows typical albumen characteristics, with a warm sepia toning and a slight iridescence at the margins. The second photograph depicts the Temple of Poseidon at Paestum, with editorial caption “Ed. Alinari, Florence” and a numbering. Frontal view of the archaeological monument, with strong documentary impact. Both photographs are attributable to important Italian photographic publishers active from the late 19th century to the early 20th century, specialized in artistic and monumental documentation. Conditions: signs of age as visible in the photo. Indicative dimensions: approximately 20 x 15 cm. Material: albumen photographic print on paper. Era: late 19th – early 20th century. Provenance: Italy. Publishers: Fratelli Brogi (Florence), Alinari (Florence). Number of pieces: 2. The photos complement the description.
