Made in Italy, Pizzo Cantù model; matrimonial bedspread in ivory/eggshell linen with Cantù bobbin lace, measuring 260 x 270 cm, weighing about 1 kg, in unused NOS condition with original packaging and authenticity tags.
Description from the seller
It is a Cantù lace bedspread (bobbin lace), an artisan excellence, famous worldwide for its complexity and refinement.
From the photos you can see that the item is preserved with its original packaging and authenticity tags ("Pizzo Cantù - Hand finished"), which greatly increases its value.
Double bedspread in pure linen (or high-quality linen blend) in ivory/ecru color.
The decoration is made with Cantù bobbin lace technique. The typical "stitches" are clearly distinguished, such as the fusteggio stitch and the ground nets that create plays of transparency.
The central motif is a large Baroque rose window with radial development, richly adorned with volutes and stylized floral motifs. The decoration is echoed at the corners and on the borders (ruffles), framing the bed with elegance.
The lace is not simply applied, but "inlaid" into the fabric through an engraving-like technique.
Border (Galoppa): The perimeter is finished with a high lace trim.
It is stockroom stock never used (NOS - New Old Stock), with original ironing creases and period packaging
