Magico incontro, an original oil on canvas from Italy, 50 × 70 cm, dated 2010–2020, in the Arte metafisica style, depicting a still life with two classical masks and a red coral branch.
Description from the seller
Antonio Sciacca
Oil on canvas 50x70
Title: "Magico incontro"
Signed: front and back
In the center of the scene we find two classical masks placed on what appears to be a dark gray supporting plane:
On the left dominates the mask with the long hooked beak, the one used by doctors to visit victims of the plague.
It is rendered with shades of gray and white that give it a nearly lithic or bony texture.
On the right there is a shorter, squarer mask—the typical beak of the Venetian disguise that guaranteed anonymity.
Behind the masks a branch of bright red coral emerges.
Its organic and branched form contrasts sharply with the rigid, skeletal lines of the masks.
The painting makes strong use of chromatic and luminous contrasts.
The background is a warm, earthy brown that makes the cold white of the masks stand out.
There is a skillful use of light and shade.
The work exudes a sense of mystery and silence.
It is a very evocative piece that invites the viewer to reflect on what lies behind the surface.
It will be shipped with professional packaging and tracked shipping.
