Born in Bosc-le-Hard in Normandy, Albert Malet is an iconic figure of the Rouen School. A student of the Impressionist painter Robert Antoine Pinchon, he began his artistic career in 1931 and exhibited as early as 1942 at the Salon de l’École française at the Palais de Tokyo. Deeply attached to his native region, he paints with sensitivity the Norman landscapes, the banks of the Seine, and the changing atmospheres of the seasons. His work is distinguished by a subtle mastery of light and a nuanced palette, inherited from the Impressionist tradition. A schoolteacher in Claville-Motteville from 1947 to 1960, he remains faithful to his roots while actively participating in local artistic life. Knight of the Ordre des Palmes académiques, he is today recognized as one of the great interpreters of pictorial Normandy.
