Minimalist ceramic plate with a contemporary design, featuring the distinctive characteristics of Giulio Busti's works, a renowned artist and ceramologist active in Deruta.
This piece, described as a "solitary work" or with an "absent subject," has been exhibited in competitions and ceramic art exhibitions.
The plate presents a central focal point in deep blue with white graphic marks and an irregular outer rim, also in blue tones, contrasting with the light surface decorated with subtly hinted vegetal motifs.
Giulio Busti (born in Deruta in 1945) is a central figure in Umbrian ceramics.
He studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts of Perugia and has participated in numerous national ceramic competitions since the 1980s.
Busti is the curator of the Regional Museum of Ceramics in Deruta and a lecturer in ceramic techniques; he has also curated and written numerous fundamental publications on the history and technique of the aforementioned maiolica, from the Renaissance to the 20th century.
His works often explore the dialogue between classical forms and abstract or informal signs.
