Description from the seller
Stuart Nye – Sterling silver cornflower blossom brooch – Mid-century studio design – Handmade – USA - 1940s
A refined and characterful sterling silver brooch by the American silversmith Stuart Nye, executed in the form of a cornflower blossom that directly reflects the influence of the Arts & Crafts movement and Scandinavian modernism.
This brooch is fully handmade and features an elegant, natural design: four smoothly formed petals with subtle, hand-applied engraved lines around a core of silver beads. The light oxidation enhances the relief and gives the piece depth and a warm, timeless appearance.
Stuart Nye (1913–2001), based in Asheville, North Carolina, USA, was known for his artisanal approach to jewelry and his preference for nature-inspired forms. His work is internationally valued and sits at the crossroads of American studio design and European modernism.
A beautiful collection piece and a wearable design that easily fits both modern and classical styles. The pin clasp is in good working order.
