Description from the seller

New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined

David Law

Photographer Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images

Multidisciplinary photographer–artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he expands this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.

New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined

Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new body of work based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each piece is crafted from a multitude of microvisual fragments generated using current graphic tools, then selected, structured and meticulously recomposed by the artist. This series revisits some of history’s most famous paintings through a contemporary visual approach. The aim of this series is to create a dialogue between artistic heritage and today’s visual culture. This approach allows for a renewed vision of the painting, located at the border between artistic homage and contemporary interpretation.

Edition & Production

Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminium with a mounted backing. Print on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminium plates, with UV- and humidity-resistant soft lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary look.

Biography

Since 2014, David Law participates in around twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual work, he develops a writer/author and musician career including 3 novels, a short story collection, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. Singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
