As it may be by Bieke Depoorter, signed, first edition, Aperture 2018, hardcover, 130 pages (68-page accompanying booklet), in English and Arabic with original language English.
Description from the seller
Exceptionally signed copy by Bieke Depoorter on the title page, unique and unavailable elsewhere as a signed copy on the internet. 62 pages with Japanese binding and a 68-page supplementary booklet included in the book, 44 color photographs printed on recto only with annotations in Arabic inscribed on the photographs themselves, these annotations are translated into English in the accompanying booklet. Matte, padded binding pleasant to the touch. (No dustjacket as issued). In excellent condition, practically like new.
Bieke Depoorter regularly travels to Egypt since the beginning of the revolution in 2011, taking intimate photographs of Egyptian families in their homes. In 2017, she returned to the country with the book’s layout, inviting others to comment directly on the photographs. Contrasting viewpoints on the country, religions, society and photography emerge among people whom one would never have imagined meeting. The included booklet contains all the original handwritten notes in Arabic as well as their English translations. It thus illustrates a population in transition, marked by integrity, engagement and respect.
Born in Belgium in 1986, Bieke Depoorter earned a Master of Photography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Ghent, in 2009. Three years later, at 25, she was named a member of Magnum Photos and became a full member in 2016. Bieke Depoorter has won numerous prizes and has already published six books.
Excellent condition, practically like new. A book from my personal collection kept with the utmost care. Shipped securely with reinforced packaging and international tracked postal service guaranteed. For multiple purchases, grouped shipping is possible with a refund of any excess postage paid via PayPal.
