This is an excellent collectible piece from the Belle Époque era (circa 1890–1915)
Object Type: Women's handheld bag in silver mesh (Mesh Purse).
Material and Fineness: Silver fineness 800 thousandths (80% silver)
Origin: Probably Germany or Austria, leading countries in producing these fine meshes in the early 20th century.
"AK" Hallmark: Master silvermaker/producer responsibility mark.
"Swan" Hallmark: French customs guarantee mark, applied to imported or used silver pieces to certify quality on the French market.
Design: Rigid-frame closure with pierced work and chiselled geometric and floral motifs. The mesh consists of thousands of interlaced rings, giving it a fluid, fabric-like texture. Includes the original hanging chain with rectangular links.
