Antique pale green opaline glass vase, mouth-blown with a pontil mark, dating from 1850–1900, 11 cm wide, 11 cm deep and 26.5 cm high, with a scalloped lobed rim, transferprint scene of two putti, hand-painted ferns, and gilt relief detailing in good condition with minor signs of aging.
Description from the seller
A charming and decorative antique vase in pale green opaline glass, mouth-blown as confirmed by the pontil mark on the base. The piece dates from approximately 1880–1910 and displays a delightful combination of techniques typical of late Victorian decorative glassware from Central Europe.
The central panel features a transferprint scene of two putti (cherubs), depicted in a soft, painterly style reminiscent of Rococo and academic painting traditions.
Surrounding the figural scene is a lush decoration of hand-painted ferns, a highly fashionable motif during the Victorian fern craze (pteridomania) of the second half of the 19th century. Additional ornamentation includes raised gilt star-shaped flowers in relief, applied by hand, and dark green banded borders separating the decorative zones.
The vase features a distinctive scalloped and lobed rim, adding elegance to the silhouette. There’s no factory mark consistent with small-batch Central European production
Good antique condition consistent with age. It would benefit from a good gentle cleaning but no cracks or chips to the glass body.
