From here to here : Alec Soth's America is a signed 1st edition hardcover by Hatje Cantz (2011) in English, 224 pages, 28 × 21 cm, including the 48-page artist’s book The Loneliest Man in Missouri.
Description from the seller
A rare signed copy on the half-title page by Alec Soth (born 1969). 224 pages and 237 photographs in black and white and in color (mainly color), of which 120 are full-page. A 48-page color artist's book, produced in 2010 by Alec Soth and entitled The Loneliest Man in Missouri, is inserted in the final endpaper (see photo), English text by Geoff Dyer, Barry Schwabsky, Britt Salvesen, Siri Engberg, August Kleinzahler and an interview with Alec Soth by Bartholomew Ryan. In excellent condition, practically like new.
Alec Soth is famous for having published "Sleeping by the Mississippi," his first book, which was immediately catalogued in The Photobook by Parr & Badger vol II, page 50.
To view the photographic series in full screen, double-click on a photograph with the option then to return to the standard display at any time.
This retrospective and anthology was published on the occasion of the exhibition presented by the Walker Art Center when Alec Soth was just 41 years old. It offers a revisit of 15 years of Alec Soth’s career, a major figure on the contemporary photographic scene who, through his art, has documented the everyday lives of Americans.
The critical essays contained in the book present the context of this photographic work as well as the artist’s working process, the photo-historical tradition behind his practice, and reflections on his latest series of works. The forty-eight-page artist’s book titled The Loneliest Man in Missouri, which is bound to the book, constitutes a photographic essay with short diary-like texts capturing the banality and boredom of the peripheral suburbs of middle America, with its office parks, strip clubs, and chain restaurants.
Book from my personal collection, in excellent condition (practically like new), kept with the greatest care. Very securely protected shipping and international tracking guaranteed. In case of multiple purchases, a grouped shipment is possible with a refund of overpaid postage via PayPal.
