Description from the seller
Dédicaced and signed on the cover by Martin Parr (1952-2025) for this portfolio edited in a magazine format (42 cm x 30 cm) which is unique and unattainable today on the internet, whether in a signed edition or an unsigned edition. 28 pages and 34 color photographs of various formats, including 3 double-page spreads. Illustrated soft cover. .In excellent condition.
At the invitation of the Institute of Islamic Culture in Paris, Martin Parr photographed the Goutte d’Or quarter, which has a very high percentage of residents of immigrant origin, and he did so without prejudice and with a spirit of total tolerance toward differences in culture, clothing, and religion, without losing his usual humor.
Martin Parr went to meet passersby and shopkeepers in everyday life spaces and captured images that contrast often with the usual French clichés. "His Anglo-Saxon gaze brings a breath of fresh air into a Franco-Franco debate that is often stifling." A week before the opening of the exhibition, the day models were invited to a small reception and were able to exchange their impressions with the photographer and leave with a photograph by the artist depicting them.
