Mixed media; oils, acrylics, textures with minerals and earth that I gathered myself from the field, pieces of work sacks that have belonged to my grandparents and great-grandparents, the sack pieces are about 120 years old and with those sacks my ancestors worked in the field.
Some of the minerals in the work came from my mother, who is a ceramist, and they are widely used with clay.
It is painted on a wooden board for greater expressiveness, using the textures and the grain of the wood, the technique is mixed, using oil, spray.
Painted out of love for Native American culture, its attitudes, its way of living.
Interest in the roots of the American continent, history, spirituality or natural conception of life, shamanism, rituals.

I am Sergio Rivera Martínez, artist from Madrid. One could say that I have been painting since I was born.

Art came into my life naturally; my grandparents and mother were artisans and artists who work with wood, tapestries, ceramics and, of course, painting.

All the memories I have are connected to painting… At home, at my grandparents’ house, birthday and Christmas presents that are sets of paints, while I watched my favorite cartoons I painted. I painted so much that when I left the house I did so as well, and that’s how I began to experiment with graffiti in my early adolescence until today, becoming part of the graffiti history book of Majadahonda.

Currently I work on canvases with a realism crafted in every detail or any expression. I focus the subjects of my work mainly on nostalgia, retro or/and classic.
